GeoMunicipal

Finds construction missing from county tax rolls

What we're building

We will make software that gives a county assessor a ranked list of properties with new construction missing from the tax roll. It will compare aerial imagery from two dates, starting with free USDA imagery and adding sharper county or state imagery where it exists, and correct the misalignment between dates that otherwise looks like change. It will detect new buildings, garages, pools and larger additions, and porches only where the imagery is sharp enough. Each flag will be matched to its parcel and public assessment record, given an estimated added area and value, checked against permits where the city publishes them, and delivered with before-and-after images as a worklist for staff to approve. Counties will not need a new flight contract.

How it works

  1. Free government aerial imagery
  2. Align two dates
  3. Match each change to the tax roll
  4. A ranked list for staff to approve
